
Industry experts providing housing solutions at the Lagos Conference and are getting ready to talk about the money and rules problems stopping the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda on housing at the upcoming 2024 Property and Environment Writers Association of Nigeria (PEWAN) conference.
This event which will be happening on November 28 in Lagos, will look at how to fix these issues to help build more houses across Nigeria.
The theme of the event is “Fixing Money and Rules Problems to Help the Renewed Hope Agenda on Housing.” The conference will bring together important people in the housing industry to come up with ideas to solve the housing crisis, as Nigeria is short by about 28 million homes.
Main Speakers and Guests
The event will have Shehu Usman Osidi, the head of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), as the main speaker. Odunayo Ojo, the Managing Director of UPDC, will be the guest speaker. The event will be chaired by Mr. Kunle Awobodu, who was the past president of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB).
Other important people at the event will include Dr. Oluyinka Abiodun Olumide, Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Akin Opatola, President of the International Real Estate Federation, Nigeria Chapter (FIABCI), Gbolahan Oki, head of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), and Dr. Oluremi Olukoya, CEO of Pecksgrey Group.
There will also be Tony Chijiena from Dangote Industries Limited, who will talk at the event, and the head of the Lagos State Development and Property Company (LSDPC), along with Sam Ogrih, who runs Delta Mega-Trend Limited.
Conference Goals
PEWAN Chairman, Mrs. Okwy Iroegbu-Chikezie, said the conference will be a chance to talk about how to build more houses in Nigeria. Since the country is missing so many homes, they will discuss how to fix the problems of getting money and dealing with rules. This includes looking at ways to make housing cheaper by finding more affordable ways to finance building.
An important part of the event will be giving awards to people and companies who have done great work in building homes and helping with housing regulations.
Kogi State’s Housing Event
In Kogi State, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is also planning a two-day event to help improve housing in the state. The event is called “Modern Housing and Urban Renewal in Kogi State” and will bring together people from the building industry to talk about how to provide more affordable homes for the people of Kogi.
The Commissioner for Housing, Taiye Abanika, said this event is part of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s plan to provide houses for everyone, especially the less privileged.
He also said that 200 hectares of land have been given to the Federal Ministry of Housing and the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) to build more than 1,000 housing units in the state. This will help improve the living conditions of the people in Kogi and make sure everyone has access to affordable homes.
